Reviews
“One of the most absurd premises for a clown show I’ve seen in recent memory. Melo’s performance starts out goofy before shifting into something that feels surprisingly like a life story told through a surreal lens. The technical elements, from the puppetry and special effects to the multimedia, are handled with a fearless hand (and sometimes crab claw) all while being anchored by a costume that is as delightfully simple as it is effective. Melo’s crowd work is exceptionally high-level. Melo keeps the audience locked into a world that is equal parts ridiculous and heartfelt. Crabman needs to host the Emmys.”

“Crabman is a poignant but hilarious examination of the unhealthy relationship between wanting fame and what you'll do to get it. Also, a man shoves a crab up his ass. 11/10. Please do not give me the reviewer award, I post this review solely for the joy of it.”

“Crabman brings the cartoon of influencer culture to life. Wait, nah nah.. actually, I think the thing is it's he does that thing.. from that era of movies from Dick Tracy and shit. He puts those shoulder pads in and it's incredible. It's in that kinda immersive fashion that's stylized like a cartoon. It's impressive. And his crowd work is on point. He doesn't really faulter when he's in with the crowd, you know what I mean? He's automatic. I think Crabman is my favorite thing I've seen so far. A very confident 5 (out of 5 stars).”

“I had originally thought that Crabman shoved a different crab up his ass every single day, like, 999 different crabs have been up his ass. I did not think that the crabs would have survived. Now that I know it's one crab, I find myself wanting to see more of the relationship between Crabman and the crab. Was this originally a mutual consensual agreement? What was the crab's life like before this? Were they a fellow colleague at the Best Buy Geek Squad and they, too, yearned for something more? Watching Crabman go THROUGH it realizing that the journey was over - now what? was so great because he wanted to savor every last second before it was all over. That felt real. That was the more realistic interpretation of stalling because you didn't want it to end I have ever seen on stage!”

“This show was incredibly unique and creative and avant- garde in the best ways. Crabman’s clear need for love and validation through the lens of media and influencers today was really cool and meta in many ways. What a fun and special piece of art!”
